- Your USAJOBS account.
Steps to take
Step 1 of 4: Enter a keyword and location on USAJOBS.
Step 2 of 4: Use the filters, including hiring path, to show jobs open to you.
Step 3 of 4: Save the search and choose how often you want email updates.
Step 4 of 4: Repeat for your top 2–3 keywords.
Common mistakes
- Not checking the closing date — some jobs close early once they receive a set number of applications.
- Trusting job "listings" on other sites without confirming them on USAJOBS or the agency's official site.
